iCloud Storage getting Full, How to fix?

Hi Bro,
Recently joined Apple family from windows. Using Mac M1. Facing some problem with iCloud. Settings are done to store limited documents in iCloud. No photos, Notes etc. Going to reach 90% of 5 gb. Decided to stop storing in iCloud and take back up on external HDD. When settings are done not to store files in iCloud all files in desktop and some directories went to iCloud (archive). Can u suggest how to retrieve files from iCloud archive and stop storing in iCloud in future. My usage of m1 is limited. Thanks. Krish

Hi bro, with icloud we have to turn on the sync which automatically uploads files. You can access your stored document by visiting icloud . Com and logging into your account via safari browser.

Its not possible to stop sync and access those files with local apps and its data.

Thank u Robin. I understand that whatever files downloaded in mac will store in iCloud and also selected directory in mac. Suppose if I delete files in iCloud the files in mac hard disk also get deleted? Krish

Hi bro, no it’s not like that. Whatever files we download it is stored on our mac hard disk. but if we enable icloud drive feature and download files to icloud, then those files will be uploaded to our icloud account. otherwise it stays within our mac hdd.

I have covered some mac basics here, which could be helpful for new users.

Let me know if you have any further questions or need more clarity.

Thank u Bro for your prompt reply. I will see your video. Thank u very much.
