After updating to 18.4 on my iPhone and latest update on iMac I am facing issue with Tamil fonts. Earlier tamil fonts used to be legible and pleasing to eyes. But now on iPhone and iMac tamil fonts have changed and it is not pleasing to eyes. How to change it
hi, the issue is tamil fonts changed to support system wide settings in both iOS and macOS. I have submitted feedback from my side too to apple team via feedback assistant app. Expecting some changes or improvements in upcoming updates. meanwhile we have to use it with slight increase in font size on iPhone if needed. you can adjust font size in settings - display and brightness - text size page.

Thanks a lot brother. Even I’ve raised a ticket with Apple via the Feedback app. No response yet. Really counting on Apple to fix it. Apple had one of the most beautiful Tamil fonts. Now it’s too difficult to read the Tamil text in Apple devices. Exceptions : Safari, Twitter and few more apps. These apps retained the old Apple font for Tamil. Any push from your end would be great because you’re an influencer and Tech blogger. Your words would have more weightage than regular users and feedback
Absolutely bro. apple wont recognise me separately, but I submit a feedback from myself through developer profile for them to consider and make some changes. They did some changes earlier, this is 50/50 chances as its not a bug but related to UI change they made to adapt with the system wide implementation of a system setting.
Hoping they consider it as more of our audience also submitted general feedback.

Hello bro, I can see that tamil fonts overall thickness have changed in some areas. header titles especially now has that thicker font style. but other areas still seeing thin type fonts though.
attaching screenshot for your reference. in facebook I am still seeing the same font style but its readable and not too thin. couldnt figure out whether its a change or not for now. will wait for fellow users suggestion and then update bro.

Yes bro. can you try with current iOS 18 tamil font settings with bold text? instead of thin font, I think you may notice little weight to the font added, making its readability bit better. Give it a try and see.
Yes bro. Tried that too. But, it’s not the same as the beautiful old font. It’s still retained in some places like safari, other browsers, YouTube subtitles etc., looks like only Apple’s default font is impacted by this bug.
sadly this is not a bug bro. they changed it to make the system wide tamil font work without overlapping or spacing issue.
Yes. True tat bro. Thing is Apple had one of the most beautiful Tamil fonts and many people including me have used Apple devices mainly for tat reason. Windows had a very bad rendering of Tamil fonts. I really wish Apple reverse their default Tamil font back to the previous one.
