App opening animation is different!

My apps are opening in a different animation rather than zooming in from the app icon like it usually does on ios…Any ideas why is this happening ?
Anyways this animation is kinda cool but this doesn’t happen all the time…Randomly this animation comes up…

I’m not able to upload the video…Im using 16 plus just 15 days old from purchase date…

Hi bro, if under settings - accessibility - motion - reduce motion feature is ON, then you will see such difference in app opening and closing animation. turning it off and check again bro.

No sir it is in off only but still it happens and it happens randomly and it goes back to normal by itself…Idk why and how that happens lol…Is there anyway i can upload the video?? so that i can show what was happening…

If possible you can upload it to your youtube account and set the video to unlisted in permission bro. then share the link here. so only people with link can view that video and it wont be publicly available. Or you can upload it to google drive and share the folder link with permission set to anyone with the link too.

Just to fix the issue do perform “settings - general - reset - reset all settings” once. that will fix and clear out any software related bugs.

I uploaded in unlisted sir…And reduce motion is turned off only i forgot to show that in the video…

I understand bro. this is the way reduce motion feature works. is the iOS 18.1.1 updated?

Yes sir it’s updated but this doesn’t happen always…This animation turns on randomly even with the reduce motion settings untouched…Even if reduce motion is turned off this animation turns on…What could be the reason ??

In that case, it could be a bug at software level. we have to take backup and perform iOS Restore once. if its bothering much, then consider visiting nearest apple service center and they will do it for free as its under warranty. that will fix the issue.

otherwise you can update to iOS 18.2 once its released in 2 weeks time, and see if the same issue repeats or not. then you can decide bro.

Robin, dude, this is not “Reduce Motion”.

What @harishakaash is saying is true, the new iOS version randomly shows a different animation, without having reduce motion activated in accessibility.

The “new” animation, which appears randomly, opens apps from the center of the screen, instead of opening them from the app icon. The video posted by @harishakaash shows it perfectly.

I have been trying to activate this animation to make it the default one, but I have not been able to find anything online about it. It is perhaps a bug, but I hope they implement it as a feature. If I find any way or turning it off/on I’ll post and update here.

This is the new animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzpgniUKxD0

Compare it with how your apps open without “reduce motion” and you’ll see the difference. @iRobinPro

Cheers all

Thanks bro. Now I get the clear idea. This does appears to be a bug. Just checked with my iPhone running iOS 18.2 RC version and no such center focused app minimize happens.

Expecting fix with upcoming update.

Actually this animation is pretty good than default zooming in from the apps…It feels faster and snappier!! Hope apple adds this bug as a feature in upcoming updates lol!!
