iPad 10th gen is over heating how to fix?

Hi Robin,
This is Balaji from Chennai. I recently purchased an iPad 10th generation Wi-Fi only model, before 3 days. I am feeling that this iPad is heating up more than normal. During the setup: Accessibility > voice over mode was ON. I really had a tough time setting it up. Also while watching YouTube videos I felt more heat dissipation on the right hand side underneath the camera, just beside the apple logo.
Is everyone facing this issue or it’s just me.
Please let me know what I should do. I already reached apple support and they did a diagnostic test from their end and they informed that everything is good. But I am not convinced, because I never heard any heating issue in this model in any of the YouTube reviews . Please suggest what steps should I take next.

Thanks in advance,
Balaji

hi bro, sometime for new device background optimisation and system services running could cause such temperature increase. When we use camera app, video editing or any specific accessibility feature that needs to run continuously consuming system resources, we may see such temperature increase.

But its automatically managed and we will see the device temperature dropping. also it shouldnt overheat continuously. then its a problem.

Try performing,

  1. Settings - General - Reset - Reset All settings once in your iPad. Then setup voice over feature and see how the overall performance goes.

  2. make sure iPadOS is updated to latest version. That helps to fix any bugs causing such issues with older versions.

Observe for 3 to 4 days and let me know if you are seeing any improvements.

Ok bro. Thank you for the quick response.
I have reset the settings and played with voice over assist for 5 to 10 mins, I did not notice any lag or heat discipation may be coz of the night time temperature. Regarding the iPadOS version, I am not sure whether it came up with iPadOS 17.5.1 or it got updated during the setup. When I finished setting up the iPad it was already on iPadOS 17.5.1
I will check for the next 2 to 3 days and will let you know bro.

Thank you for your help.

Good bro. room temperature also another reason. if there is no proper ventillation in the room and mainly during summer season with increased room temperature we all noticed heating on our devices.

But now temperature changed, so your issue could be temporary bug. normally fixed with force restart or all settings reset.

else we have to do iPadOS Restore by connecting it to computer. Thats not necessary now.

Continue using and lets monitor for 3 days atleast and then we can try further steps if required. else not needed. good night.

Hi Bro,
I have observed the temperature on my iPad and I feel it’s better compared to the previous days. I guess it is because the weather condition in Chennai is cool for the past few days, but I still feel some warmness while the device is being charged.
To mention about the battery backup, it holds the juice for 5-6 days from a single charge, though the screen on time is 2-3 hrs per day.
Also, I recently purchased a back case (make Remack) and it’s mentioned that it will exhaust the heat up to 80% and will extend the battery life.
What ever may be the reason for the heating issue, I have decided to go ahead with this device and see how it performs in the long run. I always trust Apple, because my iPad 2nd gen still holds good battery backup.

All that’s being said, I have started enjoying my new iPad 10th gen and I believe it’s a great purchase for 27K.

Finally a big thanks for the assistance bro.

In case if there is any major issue, I will let you know.
Thank you.

That is possible too bro. we can wear a proper case on iPad to reduce the heat felt in hand directly. device automatically cool down. if there is any software issue it will be fixed with updates or we can try some basic troubleshooting steps to fix it bro. dont worry. enjoy using your device the way you want.

Have a good day.
