I accidentally dropped my iPhone 15 Pro on the road, and a car ran over it. The front glass is shattered, and the back side is also cracked, but luckily the camera lens is not damaged. I visited iPlanet to get it checked, but they convinced me to buy a new iPhone, saying that my crushed phone couldn’t be repaired. Later, I went to a third-party service center, and they offered ₹18,000 to take my iPhone.
So, my question is — can I repair this officially or at a third-party shop and either sell it or give it to my brother? Or would it be better to give it away for ₹18,000? If it can be repaired, please suggest whether iPlanet is a better option or recommend some reliable third-party service centers. I’ve also attached a picture of my iPhone.
Hi bro, the internal damage is still not calculated. so 18K offer seems to be good as third party service may use the non damaged spares for their service purpose. at this point repairing at apple service center is not possible. only if you had applecare+ it will be 8900 to get a new iPhone. otherwise not an advisable solution to proceed with repair or replacement at expensive price range.
My suggestion is to sell it and go for new iPhone. we can consider the selling price as difference with the new phone planning to get.
First of all, the store that offered ₹18,000 for my iPhone fixed a temporary display and transferred the data from my broken iPhone to the new one. Using that temporary display, I checked and found that the back camera and everything else were working fine. If there was any internal damage, the data transfer wouldn’t have been possible, right?
So, I asked a well-known third-party service center called GoFix about the repair cost for replacing the front and back glass. They said it would cost ₹17,000 for the front glass and ₹8,000 for the back panel. They also mentioned that the iPhone’s service history wouldn’t show it as a fake display — it would appear as an original iPhone display.
Even the store where I transferred the data said it would cost around ₹35,000 to make it completely normal again. So, can I trust them and go ahead with the repair so that my brother can use the iPhone?
Third party repairs are the last option when we have to do chip level service or the service that at apple service center seems expensive bro. to make the phone usable again. we can go for that only based on our own interest and choice.
But if there is any issue happens in future we need to check with same service center. if thats ok you can proceed bro.
But instead of spending 35K in total, my suggestion would be going for new one if your budget allows. Because repairing there are chances for performance issues in future which would again make you spend bit more.
So considering iPhone 16 or 17 after selling it also smart choice is my opinion. Decide based on your budget bro.
Okay thank you bro. But could you suggest some good and trustworthy third-party service centres that you or your subscribers have visited…
in chennai iDot Repairs, iPick Service Centers both have good reviews among our audience bro. you can check with them once too.
Bro, today I enquired with a third-party store. They said they have an original dead iPhone from which the display can be taken and fitted into my phone. The total cost will be around ₹30,000. Is that okay? Also, is there any way to check the originality of the display in that dead iPhone? The shop’s name is “Kovai Phone Fix” — they have around 40K followers…
hi bro, its almost impossible to check the originality of the display. they will still show hardware mismatch error inside settings - general - about section when we change to different battery or display.
Price you have to decide bro. whether to service this or go for an upgrade depends entirely on our budget available right now.
some service centers does such service and they also inform the possibility of display mismatch info inside settings page.
Its possible to hide that info with some tweaks with their special equipments and softwares, but over iOS Software update it may be removed and again we see display difference message.
If thats ok you may go for it bro. compare the cost difference here of selling the device or servicing and using it for some more time. entirely depends on our current spending level.
