Macbook not reading external hardrive. I’m on Sonama OS. Looks to be Format issue, how to fix this Robin?
hi bro, have you tried any other pen drive or external drive. is the issue specific to that hard disk or macOS related? if its hard disk specific issue, then do perform repair disk once through disk utility.
Open spotlight search by pressing CMD + Space bar. Then type “Disk Utility” to launch the tool. select that specific external disk and you will see repair option at the top section bro.

Thanks for you response Robin.Yes, I did basic troubleshooting as you mentioned . I think the problem is with drive itself. Is this sonething can be recovered:/repaired: remoteiy?
Thats tough bro. we need to check with any recovery service centers. usually they are very expensive. But once try using the same hard disk in windows computer and see if it can be repaired with windows disk utilities. Sometimes it could help too.
Running similar repair and fixing errors in hard disk boot sector or in any part of the HDD at software level can be fixed. if its any other physical damage or issue cannot be repaired then we are out of luck. so give it a try.
