Recently i bought macbook air m1 .when i connected a power adapter ,i feeling little earthshock on outer body and i checked with Apple support ,they simply saying “its typically happens”
Compact adapters like 20W and 30W adapters dont have three pin connectors bro. I didnt notice any such electric shock or problems with my macbook air m1 model till date. My building also have good earth connection as I dont experience any such earth issues till date with other accessories too.
We can use third party spike busters to prevent any short circuits or electrical damages to the appliances and electronic gadgets we use.
It is possible to experience such electric shock due to adapter too. But as its USB C adapter, we can ofcourse change or use different branded adapters with the USB C to USB C cable.
Apple may not fix this by replacing out adapters right now bro. But we can take some measures as suggested above to prevent any such electric problems and shocks happening to our devices.

1st pic - testing macbook air m1 with provided adaptor ,(using tester- light is glowing on body)
2nd pic - testing dell laptop with dell charger (using tester- light is not glowing on body)(on this test we can see no earthing issue on my socket)
3nd pic - now testing dell laptop with apple charger (using tester- light is glowing on body, means apple charger causing earth shock)
->yesterday only i bought this laptop ,today i visited service center
they saying "its common, whoever using 2 pin adaptor for macbook (aluminium body) will face this issue
->i went croma and raised this issue and tested the laptop which is they displayed on showroom
using their charging adaptor on their laptop also earth shock leaking
->now again i raised this issue to apple ,they asked me to sumbit charger in service center
we will not know electric shock,because it is very little amount of shock (we can feel the shock ,when we rub the body of the laptop)
or else when we test using tester ,the light will glow in body or Screws
I understand bro. you are correct and apple currently ships the adapter without the earth pin. Just like they do with iPhone adapters. I havent tested it with tester so far, but not noticing that tingling sensation which I normally would, if there are earth issues I am experiencing.
Mostly apple support could check for adapter issues, and if nothing found they will return it as it is or replace it with a new adapter and again, you will face a similar issue.
If you are concerned about it, and thinking that there will be problem, are you planning to get the adapter with three pin connector bro? or any junction box with fuse setup? to avoid any such electric issues in future?
absolutely bro. Suggested surge protector as general measure as many dont know whether earthing issue is there or not in our building and to the places we visit. it offers basic protection against sudden spike of voltage when we use it to charge at random places, if I am correct.
So far there is no power related damages or issues reported by users bro. may be thats the reason apple is not taking this seriously.
If you are concerned, you may even consider third party branded adapters with the third pin. Avoid clones, just any branded adapters will do that has USB C cable support.
Kindly refer above discussions bro. you may consider any third party adapter with three pins (earth pin) enabled to charge your mac with USB C to USB C cable compatible.
Update from apple customer care::
They saying “ apple aware of the Issue and its already escalated , its only happening in india…blah blah”
and they didt give any ETA , no official email communication from them
@iRobinPro please share if you have escalation email id ,to escalate this issue to apple
They cannot replace all the adapters as already huge volume of macbooks using it since 2017 models bro. Going through apple customer support toll free is the only way I know where our complete diagnosis report and escalation happens with that support ticket.
i was also facing same issue. so i went to apple , there they tested, they also confirmed that the twinkling on the body of the laptop. but it is same for all M1s air/pro. even at apple store, their laptop also was twinkling.
possible bro. getting three pin adapter with USB C port should help fixing it. I will check with any third party good quality brands and suggest them in a separate shorts video soon.

Even i had this issue. I recently bought a Mac 14" M1 Pro laptop and faced this earthing issue. I generally connect the power brick to a Belkin surge protector but still i got the earth issue. So only changing the power brick with earth pin would help i guess. My thought is buying the universal adapter which is original apple product. We have a 3 pin plug in it which is compatible with any surge protectors. Please share your opinion in this ?
hello sakthi bro, as discussed above, the default adapter that comes with the box doesnt have earth pin. so yes, considering any branded 3 pin type adapter will be good idea. till now it didnt cause any problem even when people used it while charging. But its good idea as safety reasons, for us to consider using such 3 pin adapters bro.

Post the 3 pin adaptor the tingling issues is resolved ?.I two facing this, bought the M1 two days before , once I noticed , I thought I got the defective item , then searched in internet every one having the same issues. So let me know bro , whether you bought that 3 pin ? . is it resolved the tingling issue ?
