I have to share my iCloud account which I’m currently using in iPhone 5s with ios 12.5.6 while setting up family share I’m ending with this “Payment method required add a payment method to this Apple ID” even though I have added my upi for payment method
Some users did face this problem. Can you try adding 100Rs today to your apple id balance using this PhonePe method and try with family sharing setup after 3 to 4hours? It sometimes take time to reflect the balance at server side to allow family sharing setup to work bro.

Your primary device is iPhone 5S and running iOS 12.5.6 version bro? Did you talk to apple customer care toll free? whether they have any info why you are unable to setup family sharing or is it necessary to get latest iOS version like iOS 15 or iOS 16 running device?
Yes my primary device is 5s. Yes contacted Apple care support they said due to rbi guidelines payment issue it’s been hold for india I don’t know how true it is. I can able to setup family sharing on my another iPhone using ios 16
Apple did mention about iOS 16 as minimum software requirement for Kids setup with family sharing. And no mention about other regular family member addition.
But here its clear iOS compatibility is the problem that you are unable to add bro.
As Apple support said, its definitely due to RBI guidelines and just like Youtube, Netflix subscription in India - apple have to create a mandate to let us add Credit Cards once again to our Apple id. Not sure when that feature will come out. but it must be a work in progress bro.
